Young people (especially NEETs – those not in employment, education, or training), women, and minority communities often face barriers to participating in civic life. The lack of practical and accessible civic education opportunities, combined with low trust in institutions, leaves many people excluded from democratic processes.
The SDP project uses sport as a natural space for learning, dialogue, and participation. Through methodologies such as Education Through Sport (ETS) and gamification, it creates accessible opportunities for active citizenship and social inclusion. The initiative promotes regional cooperation, develops practical tools for implementing these approaches, and supports their transferability and wider adoption across Europe.
The project is coordinated by BG Be Active in partnership with organizations from Serbia, Romania, and Montenegro and is funded by the European Union.
